Our Lady of Tepeyac
MORNING SCRIPTURE & PRAYERS
Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.
-- Isaiah 7:14
God our Father, you chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to become the Mother of your Son our Savior; grant that we who call to mind her great faith and love may in all things seek to do your will and always rejoice in your salvation. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hail, Mother and Virgin, Eternal Temple of the Godhead, Venerable Treasure of Creation, crown of virginity, support of the true faith, on which the Church is founded throughout the whole world. Mother of God, who contained the Infinite God under your heart, whom no space can contain: through you the Most Holy Trinity is revealed, adored and glorified, demons are vanquished, Satan cast down from heaven into hell and our fallen nature again assumed into Heaven. Through you the human race, held captive in the bonds of idolatry, arrives at the knowledge of Truth. What more shall I say of you? Hail, through whom kings rule, through whom the Only-begotten Son of God has become the Star of Light to those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death. Amen.
AFTERNOON SCRIPTURE & PRAYER
--St. Cyril of Alexandria, c. A.D. 444
And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendents forever."
-- Luke 1:40-55
God our Father, may we always have the prayers of the Virgin Mother Mary, for through Jesus Christ her Son you bring us light and salvation; he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
EVENING MEDITATION & PRAYERS
"Hear me and understand well, my son the least, that nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything."
-- Our Lady of Tepeyac,The Virgin of Guadalupe, to Juan Diego
Consecration to Our Lady of Guadalupe:
O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of God, I, [mention your name], although most unworthy of being your servant, consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart, and choose you today, in the presence of my Guardian Angel and the whole heavenly court, for my special Mother, Lady, and Advocate, under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the name given to the heavenly image, left to us as a pledge of your motherly kindness. I firmly resolve that I will love and serve you always, and do whatever I can to induce others to love and serve you. I pray to you Mother of God, and my most kind and amiable Mother, that you receive me into your family, and keep me as your special child forever. Assist me in all thoughts, words and actions at every moment of my life, that every step and breath may be directed to the greater glory of God; and through your most powerful intercession, obtain for me that I may never more offend my Lord Jesus, that I may glorify Him in this life, and that I may also love you, and be with you, in the company of the Blessed Trinity throughout eternity in holy Paradise. In order to live this consecration as did Juan Diego, I promise to renew it frequently, especially on the twelfth day of each month; and mindful of your messages to us at Lourdes, Fatima and Akita, I will strive to lead a life of prayer and sacrifice, of fidelity to the Rosary and of reparation to your Immaculate Heart. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.
