“This creed of the desert seemed inexpressible in words, and indeed in thought.” – T.E. Lawrence

Sweetwater Haven is a special desert refuge on the far northeastern outskirts of metro Phoenix, bordering some of the best and last remaining wild horse country in Arizona.

Smack dab in the center of this stomping grounds is an enormous Eucalyptus tree with an image on the trunk that reminds me of Our Lady of Tepeyac.

I think it’s interesting that the oil from Eucalyptus trees is commonly used in many pharmaceutical products to stimulate immune system responses. It is also used to relieve symptoms of influenza and colds, has antibacterial effects useful in the treatment of respiratory infections, and has anti-inflammatory and analgesic qualities. Vick’s Vapor Rub, the stuff that your mom probably spread on your chest as a kid, is a perfect example.

And if ever all of humanity needed Our Mother, this is the time.

I’m a Catholic, husband, father of three, and avid outdoorsman. On the clock I build brands and have been a nationally recognized marketing executive in the leisure and hospitality industries for the past three decades. Off the clock I get outdoors, continuing a grand adventure that has spanned a half century and some of God’s most impressive handiwork on the planet.
